About the toolkits

The team behind the toolkits saw there was a need for information on evaluation and evidence specifically for the health and social care sector. So the Evaluation and Evidence Toolkits were first created in 2015.

The toolkits are now viewed and promoted as a trusted source of Evaluation and Evidence guidance by NHS England.

Their first versions were collaboratively developed by Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (BNSSG ICB), University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol Health Partners Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC), the National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration West (NIHR ARC West) and Health Innovation West of England.

They are now managed by BNSSG ICB, NIHR ARC West and Health Innovation West of England.

Their development and content updates are supported by:

  • NHS commissioners
  • NHS service improvement leads
  • GPs and practice managers from BNSSG ICB
  • Bristol Public Health (Bristol City Council)
  • South Gloucestershire Public Health (South Gloucestershire Council)
  • North Somerset Public Health (North Somerset Council)
  • Primary Care Library Services (North Bristol Trust)
  • University of Bristol
  • UWE
  • Bristol Health Partners AHSC

The Evaluation and Evidence toolkits go hand in hand. Using and generating evidence to inform decision making is vital to improving services and people’s lives.
